Are you thinking of travelling to the Canary Islands on your next holiday? If so, I recommend that you include the Path of the Senses in your itinerary. This trail is a unique experience that will allow you to connect with the island’s nature in a very special way. A picture is worth a thousand words.
The importance of nature on holiday
When we travel, it is important that we look for experiences that allow us to disconnect from the stress and routine of everyday life. One of the best ways to do this is to connect with nature. Getting to know the environment we are travelling to is a pleasure that we should not forget when we are on holiday, we should get into the natural landscapes and perceive the atmosphere of each place in the world that we visit.
Nature has a very positive effect on our physical and mental well-being. It helps us to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. It also helps us to improve our mood, our sleep and our concentration. The perfect balance between pleasure and relaxation.
Anaga, a natural paradise in Tenerife
The Path of the Senses is located in the Anaga Rural Park, an area of great natural beauty in the north of Tenerife. Anaga is a place of contrasts, with laurel forests, cliffs, ravines and beaches. Many trails run through the rugged natural spaces of Anaga.
The laurel forest is a type of subtropical forest found in very few parts of the world. It is characterised by its evergreen trees, such as laurel, holly or til.
The Path of the Senses
The Path of the Senses is a circular route of 2.5 kilometres that begins and ends in Cruz del Carmen. The trail is divided into three sections, each dedicated to a sense: sight, smell and touch. This hike is very easy to do and is suitable for almost all kinds of people, a trail to enjoy with the whole family. Feel, listen, smell and open your eyes.
The first section of the trail will take you through a laurel forest. Here, you can enjoy the beauty of nature with all your senses. Trees, flowers and birds will surround you, creating a magical atmosphere.
On the second part of the trail, you will focus on your sense of smell. Along the way, you will find different aromatic plants, such as eucalyptus, lavender and rosemary. You can touch the plants and bring them close to your nose to enjoy their aromas.
The third section of the trail is dedicated to touch. Here, you can experience different textures, such as the roughness of the rocks, the softness of the sand and the freshness of the water.
